In October 2011 a group of 12 Karateka of 4 different Karate Clubs in Vienna and Hollabrunn travelled to Okinawa, to practise three weeks at the Jundokan Honbu Dojo with the grand masters of Jundokan.
The clubs were HSV-Wien, Karate Wien, Budo-SV Vienna and HTL-Hollabrunn.
As often in the past he trip was organized by Dr. Friedrich Gsodam and his team.
Seven Karateka were prepared to pass Dan-examinations at the end of the seminar.
The daily training, which lasted 5 hours, was held by the grandmasters Tetsunosuke Yasuda, 10th Dan, Tetsu Gima, Tsuneo Kinjo, both 8th Dan, Sunagawa Hisao, Higa Kazuya, both 7th Dan as well as the by the head of the dojo, Kancho Yoshihiro Miyazato.
The training covered basics, Kihon Ido, Kata and Bunkai of the different Kata and included the preparation of the candidates for their grading.
Beside that, every member of the team spent hours to visit the most important sights of Naha, Shuri Castle, the Karate museum of the Federal Government, the Naminoue Shrine, the Underwater See World, the Memorials of the Second World War, one of the neighbour islands, the Isle Tokashiki etc.
At the end of the training period, 6 students passed the grading for Shodan, one of them the grading to Godan.
These 6 students are Mag. Irene König, Gerlinde Hartinger, Sophie Raab, Mag. Erni Schöfmann, Mag. Andrea Schenk and Erich Scheder.
The grading for Godan was passed very impressively by Alfred Mikulka, the head of the Club Karate Wien, the biggest Karateclub in Austria with about 500 students.
